Valero Energy Corporation is an international manufacturer and marketer of transportation fuels and petrochemical products.
The Challenge
Valero subsidiary Diamond Alternative Energy and partner Darling Ingredients Inc. sought to expand production capacity at their joint venture Diamond Green Diesel Refinery in Norco. The expansion would allow the companies to meet growing demand for renewable diesel manufactured with sustainable natural ingredients from edible and inedible bionutrients such as animal fats, used cooking oil and inedible corn oil.

Noteworthy
- In a separate Norco project announced at the same time as the Diamond Green Diesel expansion, Valero announced a $400 million expansion of the alkylation unit at the Valero St. Charles Refinery. That project allowed the company to retain 547 positions and create five new permanent contractor jobs. LED estimated the two projects combined would result in 72 indirect jobs in the Southeast Region.
